Attending the Lake Macquarie Tourism networking breakfast today 29th August 2024, which was being held at the newly opened Windale Hub, bilyabayi.

Today we attended the newly opened Windale Hub, bilyabayi for a tourism networking breakfast. There was a great presentation from the CEO of Black Rock Motor Resort, Tony Palmer, as well as a wealth of information on where this city is placed as a tourism destination.

After the meeting, we had a tour of the amazing new library and community facility for the Windale Community. A fully accessible library with cafe, multiple meeting rooms, a recording studio, an engaging children’s area, and the Fab Lab, formerly located at Swansea, will be available on Saturdays for kids and adults to engage in learning 3d printing and crafts.

This is the type of facility that Morisset has been waiting for for over 10 years now. Our town centre hub, Bawarramalang, and town square have been in planning for that long and is no where near the delivery stage. I commit to advocate for a speedier delivery of this much needed facility for our community in Morisset.

When we attended the Hunter Community Alliance listening sessions earlier this week, one of the speakers raised the need for public spaces where people who are struggling to pay power bills can go to just to feel comfortable in an air conditioned space on a hot day. This style of space fulfills that while also providing a magnificent range of options for the community to become involved in creative processes as well as fulfilling the more traditional roles of a library.
